“48 hours to bring ideas to life®” with the Innovation Factory: Students in Saint-Étienne rose to the challenge

From November 29, 2018 to December 1, 2018

The first event held in Saint-Étienne for the national “48 hours to bring ideas to life®” challenge brought together 70 students from a variety of fields. Three teams were rewarded for their innovative ideas in this event held by the Université de Lyon’s Innovation Factory.

Students from the Université Jean Monnet and the École nationale d’ingénieurs de Saint-Étienne (ENISE) spent two intense days sharing their knowledge and skills with one of nine multidisciplinary teams.

Their imagination was put to the test as they brainstormed creative ideas to address issues posed by three companies looking for innovation. With the resources provided by the Open Factory organization, which manages the Pre-Innovation Factory’s fablab in Saint-Étienne and the support and assistance of professionals, the teams successfully built prototypes of their projects.

At the end of the 48 hours, students faced a new hurdle: pitching their projects, which involved energetically presenting their works in less than three minutes to a jury of professionals.

The original presentations of the “Game of Thrones”, “Asterix” and “Expressions de Grand-mère” teams won the challenge. Each team won tickets for an escape room. And every participant gained an enriching experience they can sell.

Elsa Brailly, a mechanical engineering student at ENISE, describes her experience:
It was a wonderful experience, where we met interesting people, opened up to others and learned to both talk and listen to one another.
