The Université de Lyon grants an Honorary Doctorate to Pierre Marc Johnson

Pierre Marc Johnson, Honorary Doctor of the Université de Lyon

Pierre Marc Johnson, the 24th Prime Minister of Quebec, and now advocatus emeritus of the Quebec Bar, is recognized for his experience in international business and environmental law and health rights negotiations.

He initiated many studies and articles in the areas of international business, globalization and the environment. His experiences led him to advise governments and institutions, to work on advisory boards and lecture on the principles underlying globalization and its effects.

A key player in university relations between the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Quebec

Until recently, Pierre Marc Johnson was the President of the Board of Directors of the Jacques Cartier Meetings. During his presidency, he worked to develop exchanges between Lyon, the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region and Quebec, using annual performance reviews and bilateral university, institutional and economic operations.

He is already an honorary Doctor of the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1. Granting Pierre Marc Johnson the title of honorary doctor is a way for the Université de Lyon to honor a visionary key player in its relations with stakeholders in Quebec, both at the University level and throughout the territory.

This recognition highlights the priority of the Lyon Saint-Étienne university site to continually strengthen the work it has been undertaking for over 30 years in the areas of education, research and innovation.
