My Thesis in 180 Seconds - The 2019 competition

My Thesis in 180 Seconds, the international Francophone competition launched in Quebec, is back for the sixth time in France. Inspired by the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition, My Thesis in 180 Seconds is led in France by the Conference of University Presidents (CPU) and the CNRS, and has been developed locally by volunteer university groups.

In Lyon & Saint-Étienne, the competition is organized by the Université de Lyon on behalf of its member institutions.

The competition

My Thesis in 180 Seconds invites PhD students to present their research topic in simple terms to a jury made up of researchers, journalists and representatives from the CPU and CNRS, as well as a diverse non-specialist audience.

Each PhD student must present their research project in three minutes in a clear and concise, yet convincing manner.

After the regional final, two candidates from each participating university group will compete in a national semi-final.

All PhD students at the Université de Lyon are invited to take part in the competition.
