MOOC for PhD students
The "Research Ethics" MOOC will mobilize researchers who will then analyze the ethical challenges in their area of research and the changes in research bodies. It will offer benchmarks and methods to support PhD students with ethical reflection.
The MOOC will be divided into four phases:
- Research Ethics
- Scientific Integrity
- Professional ethics, morals and rights: the gradual emergence of ethical challenges in science
- Science, technology, innovation, democracy and conflicting values
Face-to-face training for PhD students
In light of profound changes in research, in the organizational structures of its institutions, its project practices, its professional identities, its infrastructures and its techno-scientific potential in a globalized world, more and more institutions are demanding a rational analysis of the ethical challenges involved in research projects.
These challenges go beyond regulatory compliance; they demand questioning and arguments. This face-to-face PhD program (15 hours) aims to educate PhD students about approaches to earmarked ethics, to support them with their thesis and to prepare them for submitting their research projects. The MOOC is, therefore, orientated towards PhD students wishing to deepen their analysis of the ethical challenges raised by their research to support them with the ethical review written as part of their paper.
The training program consists of workshops (5 x 3 hours) in which each PhD student will be required to present the ethical challenges involved in their own research project and discuss their thesis with the other PhD students. These workshops will end with a writing task that may be used as a paragraph in their thesis describing and analyzing the various ethical challenges in their work.
