Sciences Po Lyon opens its Saint-Étienne campus
On The December 4, 2017
On December 4, 2017, Sciences Po Lyon opened its new Saint-Étienne campus at the Université Jean Monnet. The opening ceremony, which marked the end of 18 months of construction work, was an opportunity to highlight the strong links and shared effort that unite these two member institutions of the Université de Lyon.
A number of important figures attended this symbolic event, most prominently Georges Képénékian, the Mayor of Lyon, Gaël Perdriau, the Mayor of Saint-Étienne, Evence Richard, the Prefect of the Loire, Yannick Neuder, the Vice President of the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes responsible for Higher Education, and Khaled Bouabdallah, the President of the Université de Lyon.
Moving Sciences Po Lyon to this building in Saint-Étienne, now named "77 Michelet (formerly the Maison de l'Université), has been a great step forward. Following the creation of a strong partnership between the UJM and Sciences Po Lyon for Master's degrees in 2012, the start of the 2017 academic year was marked by a decision to extend this partnership to undergraduate degrees through the opening of the new Sciences Po Lyon Campus in Saint-Étienne.
This is the first time that Sciences Po has opened a campus in this region, demonstrating the institute's potential to develop, innovate and expand into new territory. This new campus will eventually host 200 students.
The opening of this new campus has also led to the signing of an agreement between Michèle Cottier, the President of the UJM, and Renaud Payre, the Director of Sciences Po Lyon.► Find more information on the UJM and Sciences Po Lyon website
