The Université de Lyon's representative offices aim to promote the Community of Universities and Institutions (COMUE) worldwide. They coordinate action to be taken by the relevant member and associated institutions in two strategic areas (Brazil and China) and support the development of collaborative projects in training and research.
The offices also enhance the Université de Lyon's cooperation and outreach by building on diplomatic missions and the work of national organizations' regional offices, like CNRS (for research) and Campus France (for student mobility).
Action taken by the representative offices enables projects from the Lyon Saint-Étienne site to be implemented in schemes set out in its national strategy.
The Université de Lyon's first representative office opened in Shanghai in 2011, following the Rhône-Alpes region's involvement in the universal Expo 2010 Shanghai China. The second representative office opened in 2013 in São Paulo, as part of the privileged partnership established between the Université de Lyon and the University of São Paulo.
