2018 Call for projects: Standard FIE and Theme FIE “Student welcome and integration”

On The January 23, 2018

Do you belong to a student association and would you like to lead a project that would benefit other students at the Lyon Saint-Étienne site? The Université de Lyon can help you finance your project via the Student Initiative Fund (FIE - Fonds d’initiative étudiante) that organizes two sessions per year in spring and autumn. Each FIE session includes a focus on a specific topic, called a “Theme FIE”, enabling students to apply for increased funding for their projects.

What is the FIE?

The Université de Lyon Student Initiative Fund (FIE) encourages students in the Lyon Saint-Étienne region to get involved in community life by supporting local projects and initiatives for students.

The Université de Lyon is issuing a call for projects aimed at boosting community life and supporting the various forms of student involvement.

Two potential sources of funds:

  • The “Standard” FIE: potential funding of up to €7,500, not exceeding 50% of the project budget;
  • The “Theme” FIE “Student welcome and integration”: potential funding of up to €9,000, not exceeding 70% of the project budget.

2018 Spring Session: Theme FIE “Student welcome and integration”

The Students Welcome Desk (SWD), run by the Université de Lyon, welcomes newly-arrived students and helps them integrate by offering administrative support and information about housing, jobs and health, as well as organizing relaxed events with other people involved in enhancing student life and promoting the attractiveness of the region.

In addition to this Welcome Desk, the Student Life Department of the Université de Lyon seeks to improve the living conditions of students, help them settle into the city and make the information they need for their daily lives easier to access and understand.

Through this call for Theme FIE projects, student associations are invited to put projects forward that welcome students, help them with administrative procedures and enable them to join in with the cultural, economic and community life of their region.

Criteria for assessing specific Theme FIE applications:

  • Projects focusing on at least one of the following three topics:
    • Welcoming students and helping them with daily student life procedures;
    • Integration and inclusion: events/schemes aimed at preventing isolation, helping students to explore the local region, promoting peer exchanges, cultural exchanges, mutual support, etc.
    • Communication: making information required for student life easier to access and understand: schedule of student requirements, mapping key people/organizations and services, lists of ideas and tips, etc.
  • Projects/initiatives aimed directly at specific students (new arrivals, disabled students, international students, etc.)
  • Projects compliant with FIE regulations (administrative compliance)
