The Université de Lyon’s Sports Association (AS UdL) hosted the China University of Political Sciences and Law

In 2017, the Université de Lyon traveled to China to compete against the team from the China University of Political Sciences and Law (CUPL) in a soccer tournament. The students from Lyon enjoyed an exceptional visit of Beijing and the opportunity to discover the local culture. So it seemed only natural to host the return game in France this year and demonstrate our hospitality and culinary heritage.

The welcome week kicked off with the tournament’s opening ceremony at the Université de Lyon on Monday, September 10. This was followed by a whirlwind of events, including a visit of the OL stadium and museum, the Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois, the Université Lumière Lyon 2 (partnered with the CUPL) and a visit of the Castle of Roussillon.

The CUPL delegation was also welcomed by the Région Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, which was an opportunity to present them with the region’s general policies in relation to China.

• Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 vs China UPL: 6-2
• Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 vs Université Lumière Lyon 2: 1-2

Following the second day of the tournament and the finals, the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes University Sports League awarded the prizes as follows: 1st UdL-Lyon 1, 2nd UdL-Lyon 2, 3d CUPL, 4th UdL-Lyon3.
