The Métropole de Lyon and the Université de Lyon award the 2017 Young Researcher Prize

The universities in the Métropole de Lyon have great research facilities that contribute to their excellence and reputation. To highlight their potential and the work they have carried out, the Métropole, in partnership with the Université de Lyon, decided to award €5,000 prizes to three young researchers.
The Young Researcher Prize, created in the 1980s by the Ville de Lyon, aims to promote the excellence of basic and applied research in the Université de Lyon's laboratories. Each year, no fewer than fifty young researchers apply.
49 applications were submitted in 2017 and were evaluated by a jury chaired by Christelle Goutaudier, the director of the Université de Lyon's doctoral colleges.
The research areas were changed this year in line with the research strategy adopted by the Université de Lyon under the IDEX program: Bio-health and society, science and engineering, humanities and urbanity.
The award ceremony recognized the talent of three young researchers in these fields, and was attended by Jean-Paul Bret, the Vice President of the Métropole de Lyon in charge of universities, Guy Corazzol, the Deputy Mayor of Lyon responsible for education, student life and university promotion, and Khaled Bouabdallah, President of the Université de Lyon.

Theme: "A study of the control of plant stem cell homeostasis using internal and environmental signals" - Prize 2 - Science and engineering
Winner: Mathilde Luneau
Theme: "Hydrogen production from renewable energy sources" - Prize 3 - Humanities and urbanity
Winner: Georges Mouamar
Theme: "The cultural areas of the first states in Northern Levant in the 3rd millennium B.C: invention and innovation in technical systems and production"
