The Université de Lyon is one of the founding members of the NIFC.

These two institutions share a number of goals: to develop relations between higher education institutions in Lyon and Saint-Étienne and Chinese universities and to build bridges between stakeholders in the French and Chinese economic and academic worlds, etc.

With the support of French and Chinese regional authorities, the Université de Lyon is able to benefit from the New Franco-Chinese Institute platform to strengthen projects carried out with Tongji University, the East China Normal University in Shanghai and the Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou. These three Chinese universities are also founding members of the NIFC.
