The Students Welcome Desk is back for January and February 2018!

Permanent services to improve the welcoming of students and to encourage their integration.

The Students Welcome Desk (SWD), run by the Université de Lyon, welcomes newly arrived students and helps them integrate by offering administrative support, practical information and relaxed events with other stakeholders involved in enhancing student life and the attractiveness of the region.

The SWD will be open for five weeks at the Université de Lyon, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from January 16 to February 15 (open for ten days in total). The SWD aims to welcome students arriving for the first time at the start of this new term, and to offer further support for those who have already settled in at the university, to expand on certain topics in student life, and to prepare and anticipate their next steps this year in housing, employment, mobility, health, mutual insurance, culture, tourism, sport, etc.

Over the ten days, a multilingual support officer and the scheme's partner organizations will be rallying together to support students:

• Employment/housing, grants and cultural schemes with CROUS Lyon
• Student life and services with the iStudent organization
• Mobility and sponsorship with the ESN Cosmo Lyon organization
• Healthcare schemes with SMERRA and LMDE
• Specifically for international students: validation of long-stay visas with the OFII (French Office of Immigration and Integration); help with creating application files for renewing residence permits and submitting them at the prefecture.
